Unfair education in Africa
Most students with disabilities do not get good quality education in Africa. The author explains his personal experience...
Education in Sub-Saharan Africa has expanded dramatically over the last half-century, from 1970 to 2010 there has been an increase of almost 50% of children across the region who complete primary schools. However, despite this improvement, still, nearly 1 in 3 children do not complete primary school. The international community has characterised this as a “learning crisisâ€.This research paper synthesises recent research on how to expand access to education and to improve the quality of learning in Africa. The analysis has revealed two trends. The first is the growing sophistication in evaluating education programs in Africa. Second, there is also a growth in evidence of child development, mother-tongue instruction and public-private partnerships.
