It has been a decade since the United Nations recognised clean water and sanitation as a human right. To celebrate this, WaterAid commissioned ten visual artists from the global south to highlight the importance of providing access to clean water and sanitation globally.
The aim is for governments to double their investments to ensure water and sanitation are accessible to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there has been global progress, 1 in 10 people still lacks access to clean water close to their homes and 2 billion do not have access to a toilet. There is still work to be done, but by raising awareness, we can enable change.
