Residents in Indiana are being asked to stop watering their
lawns following recent water shortages in the area. The town of Saint John has recently been affected by high temperatures and dry weather conditions, limiting their water supplies. Although Lake Michigan is a mere 15 miles away from the town, given that it is not within the watershed, the town of Saint John. The town has attempted to drill wells, although with little to no success as they are often dry or tainted with iron, making the water unsafe for consumption. The current solution is buying gallons of water from the neighbouring town, in the hope that rainfall will come soon enough.
