The project will build on previous work from the Jal Jeevan Mission -designed to improve access to drinking water to every rural home by 2024- that saw 1,42,749 households receive freshwater tap connections, in the region of Manipur. The new foundation for the project will provide the remaining households of Manipur with freshwater tap connections, aiming to cover the outstanding 2,80,756 homes whilst also tackling sustainable water management. Through the Manipur Water Supply Project, water poverty will significantly be reduced through improved access to potable drinking water. It is through projects such as these that there can be universal access to water and sanitation.
