How Europe has handled school reopening

Arya Quality Education

Starting on April, 22 European countries began sending children back to school in waves. Under strict protocols in France, parents were required to take the temperature of their children before arriving at school. Denmark meanwhile would hold some classes outside. The reopenings did not lead to a significant increase in coronavirus infections among students, teachers or staff.

Now countries face the pressing question over whether schools can open safely this fall. However, in Europe, getting students back to school will require trade-offs. The UK government is considering closing pubs, restaurants and shops so schools can remain open. While teachers are also calling for the country’s testing and tracking systems to be ramped up. Face masks will be mandatory for ages 11 and upwards, while there is also hope to remove social distancing measures for pupils.
