The Middle East continues to suffer from a water scarcity crisis and as a result of this the region has suffered from a lack of availability of drinking water. Around two-thirds of the Middle Eastern population lack sufficient renewable water resources and despite advances in water supply technology and management, factors including extreme scarcity, poor governance, changing hydrology and ascending demands in different sectors are driving the overexploitation of the region’s scarce water resources. In relation to the clean water and sanitation SDG, what actions could be taken to help those suffering from a lack of clean water?
