Scientists warn that America's freshwater supply could be
reduced by a third in the next 50 years. Water shortages threaten future
American generations, with almost half of the freshwater basins expected to be
unable to meet the population's monthly water demands. The reality is that 40
out of 50 states will experience water shortages. One of the key factors enabling future shortages is climate
change. Regions that often experience heavy rainfall will receive further
precipitation, whilst arid regions are expected to get drier as water patterns
become altered.
America's population is increasing, so is demand. However,
supply is not, and with total daily usage of 345 billion gallons of water by
the entire American population, there is no doubt that the US is running out of
water.
