Access to clean water and sanitation is a basic human right -this includes being able to carry out basic hygiene such as handwashing-. However, how can you wash your hands without clean water or soap? This is the reality for millions of people worldwide. In many regions around the world, handwashing is not a normalised practice, with many children never having washed their hands with soap. This day reminds us to work together to normalise handwashing worldwide. If this global pandemic has taught us anything, it is that clean water and sanitation are vital to minimise the risk of contracting disease, including COVID-19. To commemorate Global Handwashing Day at the GNB, we are starting the 'Handwashing for All' campaign to raise awareness, and promote hand hygiene globally.
