What do we know about GTA 6?

Rockstar Games haven’t yet given the game this title, but fans are referring to the upcoming game that is in development as GTA 6.

What do we know about the game so far?

The game is in development by Rockstar Games, like the others have been, but the team taking the lead is Rockstar North - based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bits of the game will be developed and touched by all their teams, but the Scottish branch is taking the lead.

The latest statement says the game is “well underway”, and the next instalment in the franchise will “significantly move beyond” what the team have achieved before.

"With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered--and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway," Rockstar said. "We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready..."

There have been many rumours floating around - some say the franchise will adopt the new “Battle Royale” framework which has seen the meteoric rise of Fortnite fandom. Others think that the game will be set in the 1980s. Also, given the last game had all-male protagonists, the next instalment has some pressure to include a lead female.
