Call of Duty: Vanguard, a game that bases its main characters around real life soldiers from World War II, has sparked controversy by recreating a New Zealand war hero as an Australian character. The character, named Lucas Riggs, is the only one of the playable soldiers with such a significant deviation from their past, with seemingly no real reason to have had his identity changed. His historical basis, Charles Upham, is one of the most decorated New Zealond soldiers in history, and many are upset that such an important figure to the country has been glossed over.
