Snapchat has introduced a new feature which they hope will encourage underage children to use the app in a more safe way.
Because of the instant, and momentary features which made Snapchat so popular, there are associated threats to underage children using the app.
This is why Snapchat have decided to offer a feature where parents can connect their children to their accounts, so they can have an element of transparency over the contacts their kids are connecting with using the social media app.
The Family Centre will allow children to connect their accounts to someone who is over 25, and will allow the adult to see who the child has contacted over the past week.
None of the messages or snaps will be visible, but it will help the parents understand who their kids are speaking with and how frequently.
This is a huge step in increasing the security of underage children online, as grooming is seen as a major threat on the platform.
Conversations like this are taking place across all major social platforms, as sites and apps attempt to monitor and make safe the users and uploaded content each day.
Would you let your parents see your Snapchat? And if you definitely wouldn’t is there a legitimate reason why???
