Everyone knows of Netflix, and many people have recently found it very annoying that they have raised the price of their monthly subscription again.
The response from them seems bizarre! They have said today they will in response crackdown on people sharing accounts with others from different households. Surely this move will drive people away rather than keeping the people who are at the moment staying loyal?
The unsubscribe movement comes off the back of many people frustrated at the rising prices, and also a lack of fresh new content that dominates the tv and film space. It is also worth noting they pulled out of Russia and can attribute some part of their drop to that politically charged decision.
There’s a lot of noise being made about this, as they have the upcoming super-show Stranger Things set to drop its next season in May. The boss of Netflix Mr. Hastings even in the past said that account sharing made the platform more popular and certainly helped it grow, so this decision is certainly one which comes at a risk to the service’s popularity.
It’s projected that Netflix is expecting to lose another 2 million subscribers leading up to July. We wonder what Blockbuster must think about all this!
What do you think? If you have Netflix have you thought of canceling?
