War on education: What does this all mean for education in both countries? (4/7)

Arya Quality Education

In this fourth part of the "war on education" amidst the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we use the context, and explain its repercussions today, in particular in education.

Fast forward to 2013-2017, there is still tension in the West Bank, largely as a result of Israeli settlements and policies, who are more cautious following the Intifadas. Israel exercised exclusive jurisdiction in the area, approximately 60% of the West Bank and full jurisdiction over East Jerusalem. They have also damaged Palestinian property here including schools.

Violence intensified, in the West Bank in June 2014 two Israeli children and one Israeli youth were abducted and killed by Palestine. This caused retaliation by Israel, to kill a Palestinian child. Since there have been reports of damages on Palestinian schools in the West Bank, this comes through the form of airstrikes, bombings, and other military and non-military formats.
