Nigeria closed its schools in order to curb the spread of the pandemic. To ensure continued learning, the government ensured there was teaching via various online platforms: using traditional media, radio, and TV. However, these initiatives would not fill all the gaps in education inequality created by the pandemic. Five months later, the government has ordered the reopening of schools across the country, with some yet to open, while others are opening in phases. Emi Harry, founder of Naina Tech, a tech company building a cloud-based learning platform, believes the education sector is in need of restructuring. The pandemic has made it very important to rethink educational structures. Further, it's impossible for the Nigerian government to solve issues of education independent of the private sector.
