Philanthropic investments in education

Arya Quality Education

Nelson Mandela once said, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. However, more recently in South Africa, levels of education have plummeted to one of the worst in the world. There are multiple reasons for this. The lack of facilities, poor school administration, low level of teaching skills and more. Many research reports have also highlighted the shockingly low level of numeracy among learners, as a result of poor mathematics teaching, many of whom teach beyond their own levels of knowledge. There are however a range in interventions in education. There are the philanthropic foundations involved in early childhood development. While primary and secondary schools are also being invested in. At the higher education level, philanthropy is involved in projects relating to access to university, academic development programmes, preparation for the world of work and more. For example, some of South Africa’s business schools are amongst the best in the world, this is a result of philanthropic contribution.
