Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has asked universities to quickly develop online courses. However, there are issues regarding online education in the country. Most students don't have smartphones or lack access to the internet. Given the education system prior was not up to the mark, the pandemic only exacerbates education inequality in Pakistan. Some students have resorted to international learning, however, scholarships have been denied. For example, student Muhammad Abbas from Pakistan, who is studying a PHD in Zhengzhou, China has his scholarship cancelled due to the closure of Chinese institutions as a result of the pandemic. The lockdown has hit countries with reality, making them reconsider and rethink their current education systems.
