In the UNICEF report, eight countries: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka, an estimated 240 million already live in poverty. This means they lack good health, quality education, poor sanitation and poor quality of work. As a result of the pandemic, an extra 120 million children could be in this position in the next 6 months. This hinders children’s access to education, in particular, preventing them from developing in their lives. With the closures of schools, an estimated 430 million children have been shut out of their classrooms.
