While Hollywood dominates the global film industry, there are countless brilliant and innovative films being made all over the world. From the intimate dramas of Iran to the surreal comedies of Japan, foreign films offer a unique perspective on the world and tell stories that are often overlooked by mainstream Hollywood.
One foreign film that I highly recommend is A Separation, directed by Asghar Farhadi. The film is set in Tehran and tells the story of a couple who are going through a divorce. The film is a beautiful exploration of family, class, and the complexities of human relationships.
Another film that stands out is Oldboy, directed by Park Chan-wook. The film is a violent and surreal revenge story about a man who is kidnapped and held in a mysterious prison for 15 years. The film is a shocking and unforgettable exploration of revenge, trauma, and the darker aspects of human nature.
