MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin football’s coaching staff won’t look the same this spring as it did at the close of 2020 during the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Since the end of Wisconsin’s season, the Badgers have seen two position coaches — quarterbacks coach Jon Budmayr and defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield — seek new opportunities elsewhere. The two departures led to several movements within the coaching staff. Many of last year's coaches are returning once again this season but some have slightly different titles.Below Badger247 breaks down what will be different with this year's coaching staff. We’ll start with a review of who’s where and what titles have changed.PAUL CHRYSTYes, even Wisconsin's head coach had his position altered this offseason. While Chryst is still the head coach he’ll be back to calling plays this year, he said earlier this offseason, and will also be coaching the quarterbacks, a role he previously held in his first three seasons as head coach of the badgers.JOE RUDOLPHRudolph called plays last season as well as performing associate head coach and offensive line coach duties. This season, Rudolph is still an associate head coach but is now the run-game coordinator, rather than the lead play caller. This will likely provide Rudolph more time outside of practice to work with the linemen and other players involved in run schemes rather than focusing a large portion of prep toward preparing that week's play-call sheet.
