Tracy Repchuk, InnerSurf International Inc. is one of Forbes Coaching Council members, which means she knows a thing or two about coaching skills. In the article for Forbes, she names one coaching skill that should actually be a core leadership competency, the skill to take accountability."The ability to coach means the ability to know, apply and teach effectively. It also means taking ownership of the results for yourself and others. In other words, if your client does well — celebrate. If your client doesn't do well, other than they simply aren't doing the work, examine what can you do better, more effectively or differently. That way, you are always improving and growing." Leading a team means their results are reflective of your coaching skills. Whilst the team member may actually not be doing the work, its important to first take a step back and ensure you have provided all the opportunities and reached out for guidance before it got to this point of poor performance. The poor performances will be avoided and the successes will be more often! Image: Tim Gouw on UnsplashÂ
