Palampur's main drinking water sources -Bhiral and Mol khuds- are contaminated as a result of increased waste dumping. Waste from hotels, residents and restaurants is being emptied into these two main rivers, making the water unsafe for consumption.
During the monsoon season, the risk contracting waterborne diseases is high, however, contaminated water from dumping waste increases this risk. Ensuring water sources are kept clean from sewage and contaminants, is imperative to improve the quality of water in Palampur, reducing the risk of contracting disease.
