NGO Samarpan has played a vital role in the fight against COVID-19, particularly in India. The NGO has taken the initiative to distribute hygiene kits, including hand sanitizers and face masks in different Indian regions.
Within two days of coronavirus cases rising in India, 800 hand sanitizer bottles were distributed to the Mumbai police, alongside 1300 to the Gujarat police to ensure their safety. Security guards, healthcare workers and housemaids were also provided with 2500 face coverings. So far, 56,470 hand sanitizers have been distributed as well as 1,57,000 face masks. In addition, water purifiers have been installed across schools to prevent absentees due to the risk of waterborne diseases.
The work of NGOs such as Samarpan during this time has been critical and has been immensely helpful in providing vulnerable people with access to clean water and sanitation.
